Classic Ripple Crochet Baby Blanket

I can’t tell you how many of these blankets I have made over the years, in several variations. They are absolutely a classic, and really quite simple! These instructions are written for a solid color blanket; if you wish to add more colors, simply change yarns at the end of the last row of the previous color.

Pattern is written in US crochet terminology.

For this project you will need:

Size 3/Light/DK/Sport weight yarn

G/6 4.25mm crochet hook

Scissors and yarn needle for finishing.

Stitches used:

Chain – ch.

Double Crochet – dc

Pattern:

Set-up- ch. a multiple of 9 + 1 (for example, 181)

Row 1- ch 3 (Counts as 1st dc), dc in 4th ch from hook. * dc in next 4 ch, skip 2, dc in next 4 ch, 3dc in next ch * Repeat * * until one ch remains. 2dc in last ch.

Row 2- ch 3 (Counts as 1st dc), dc in last dc of previous row * dc in next 4 dc, skip 2, dc in next 4 dc, 3dc in next dc * Repeat * * until one stitch remains. 2dc in last dc.

Repeat Row 2 until blanket is desired length.

NOTES- Every row should begin and end with 2dc in the first/last stitch. I find it helpful to place a locking stitch marker in the top of the ch 3 that forms the first stitch, to remind myself to work 2dc there.
